DIY rejection therapy

#DailySignals - Your 2 minute preview of the future

Let's talk about DIY rejection therapy - or how young adults are taking to TikTok (somewhat ironically, social media, where they hope they will be rewarded with likes and love for their efforts) to participate in challenges to get rejected (while being filmed for the feed) in real life.

This shows a self awareness that, as Ronen Aires wrote about in his book, Breach, young people struggle with rejection, or even, indeed, just with the absence of positive affirmation, let alone the presence of negative attention, in their personal and professional lives. A tend towards taking steps to publicly acknowledge this degree sensitivity may be self limiting shows growth. At the same time, it should indicate to employers and other elders, just how deep seated this desire for affirmation is, and that a few extra compliments are not a huge cost to pay for a happier team (or family).

I'm interested to see how this trend plays out.

Have you tried rejection therapy? Would you?
How prepared are you, personally, for the inevitable rejections life throws at you?
Will future generations be more or less resilient?
How can we give constructive criticism (and even rejection) to slowly build up resilience against the often not very nice realities of life?
