Let’s talk about “personal social investment” or transformative #investing - that is investing in a portfolio with the purpose of drawing down and distributing your capital (to make a social / environmental/ cause based return) rather than investing to make a financial return. That is investing to distribute rather than make a fortune.
It’s not quite investing, it’s not quite charity…
Is it more or less paternalistic (and some would say cynical and manipulative) than traditional tax-deductible charity?
Is it a symptom of guilt over inequality and/or a symptom of social conscience growing among the rich?
Is growing childlessness part of the reason for wealthy people wanting a controlled demolition of their wealth?
What can corporate #CSI programmes learn from personal PSI demonstrations?
Let me know.
