Making lemonade? Or another story of an old lady swallowing a spider to catch the fly she swallows earlier?
Today’s signal looks at growing suggestions that we should adopt radical climate policies to combat climate change, rain seeding has been in the news for a few months now (even on the EU’s policy agenda) but a new idea has caught my eye : that of channeling rising sea levels into the deserts of Africa and the Middle East to create new break baskets and civilisations rather than flood our existing ones.
Twisted incentives and possible unintended consequences aside - I do like some lemonaid thinking. How can we turn apparent problems and threats into opportunities?
How can we take bold risks without being naive about the possible “cobra effects” (look it up if you don’t know it) of our actions?
