Today's #dailysignal looks at trend breaks and trend confirmations - specially around (the much maligned) generational cohorts and cyclical patterns. Specifically, we're looking at how Millennials in the WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialised, Rich, Democratic) world are - very unlike! - previous generational cohorts tending further and further left as they (we, I am one myself) age.
This pattern, should it persist, will threaten ideas like "capitalism" and "democracy" that we take for granted in the liberal West.
What do you think this pattern means for your financial future?
Will Millennials finally trend more conservative once they have finally wrested economic and political control from their Boomer parents (that is, to put it bluntly, when they die)?
Do you follow generational or "fourth turning" theory? (Or do you think history is too chaotic to have a rhyming or rhythm section?)
Let me know! (And don't forget, us Millennials are already middle aged, and the future, as we know at Flux Trends is all about Gen Z...)
