Today I'm looking and "musical sludge" and midway AI - again. And how algorithms feeding audiences what they think we want is leading to a proliferation of the mediocre everywhere we look.
What if we have it all backwards? Real art doesn't have a predefined target market - real art creates target markets.
What do think? Is giving people what they thunk they want a good strategy? Or does it pay to be bolder? What if the margin is, in fact, in the unknown mess? Can enough (infinite!) quantity substitute for quality? And why is the SO MUCH BAD ART everywhere?
