How would you like to be paid not to work? At first, you might say, yes! of course! free money! But a bit more reflection might reveal that you are actually being bribed not to achieve your potential or do anything of worth that could add value and meaning to the world - and that, is most definitely not free.
Today I'm looking at the "human Pokemon" phenomenon - or what happens when loose monetary policy effectively hands big companies free (well, free for them, not for everyone) money to "invest" in themselves - and the gross inequalities and inefficiencies (including, inevitably, the sad layoffs of those same un- and under-used employees) that result - such as talent hoarding and other wasteful HR practices.
Have you ever been a "warehoused" employee? How did it make you feel? Was the money worth it?
Is free money worth the price? (At a global macro economic and in individual human being level)
Let me know. (And if you like this, or dislike it, please share with someone who will enjoy adding to the, hopefully polite and productive, yet lively debate).
