Sex recession over?

#DailySignals - Your 2 minute preview of the future

It looks like the Sex Recession is finally over 👀. Young people are literally hooking up again and for the first time in around a decade the number of males AND females who are voluntarily or involuntarily celibate has declined to around 10% (from highs over over 30%).

This is a good reminder that what comes up, goes down, and visa versus. That trends are cyclical. Any trend contains the seeds of a counter trend. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns.

That recessions are temporary (as are bull markets!).

That the wheel turns.

Anyway, I think it’s great to see signals that the loneliness pandemic could be cured. That we are realising the value of physical (real) human connection of the romantic and platonic sort!

But what are your thoughts?

What signals have you spotted of trend reversals of momentum we’ve taken for granted around the corner?

Have you noticed a greater desire for physical connection in your personal or professional life?

Do you have a desire to re-connect with your peers, colleagues and teams in the physical world?

Do you find yourself sucked in by the momentum of the moment? By the contagion of over optimism or over pessimism? What techniques or mental models do you use to see past the herd mentality of over or under exuberance to remind yourself that nothing lasts, that cycles rise and fall?

And do you follow Tim Stock ? who’s work on the cyclical nature of cultural trend mapping always reminds me that the wheel turns and turns…

Let us know your thoughts.
