Water police academy

#DailySignals - Your 2 minute preview of the future

Today we look at another signal hinting at the future of water scarcity and conflict - reminding us that the real things (the things we need to survive, food, energy, and water) are where our focus should be iff we want to understand the future.

The signal at hand is that Kenya has set up a "water crimes" police task force to crack down on the cartels stealing water from the national grid.

And that of course got me thinking about the *legal* cartels, the big drinks companies who have "negotiated" discounted monopoly rights over vast swarths of Africa's water supply at source...

Where there is scarcity, there is conflict, and opportunity for profit.

What do you think about water scarcity and conflict in the near and mid term future? Is it on your business (and indeed geopolitical) threat radar?

What else is in your blindspot?
