Today I look at how both digital experiences and nature have been prescribed as therapeutic treatments - and now, bringing it all together, digital imitators of nature too. (Dale P. Deacon was way ahead of this one! As participants on our Flux Trends immersion tours will attest to!)
Digital drugs (digital as the drug) is one thing, replacing nature with prescribed artificial nature "experiences" is something else. Something else that will form a part of cost-effective "corporate wellness programs", no doubt.
But what does this say about the state of humanity? Our digitised, flattened lives are making us stressed and depressed and disconnected from nature, and the cure prescribed is artificial, digital nature-as-a-service?
What interesting creatures we are! (And isn't it fascinating the fake replicas actually work, in so far as they trick our human brains into believing it's the real thing? (And what does *that* say about the future of synthetic inter personal and inter species relationships? Could you replace your "real" relationships with fake ones if they fooled you into feeling the same?)
Curious and curiouser, as Alice said.
Let me know your thoughts...
