Good for gender equality and distributing the “parenthood penalty”.
But perhaps also a symptom of men being unable to find their (economic) place in a world where women (in the rich world) are out educating and out earning men…
What does the future of masculinity look like as the breadwinner role becomes de gendered?
What gender stereotypes do we still need to shed ourselves of?
What happens to the men without workforce OR family roles to play? (History suggests we need to find them something productive to do 😅)
Should single income homes (regardless of gender of the stay at home parent) become more of a norm again? Does this signal imply that both parents working just isn’t working for anyone?
Is the sacrifice of income independence vs child rearing the same for mothers and fathers?
In the future - is work for women?
