The constitutional right to unsupervised spending?

#DailySignals - Your 2 minute preview of the future

Today's signal looks at Austria's bill to enshrine the right to pay with cash (or at least anonymously) into its constitution.

It's an interesting counter signal in the trade of between traceability, (perceived) security, and surveillance vs privacy, which is definitely tending in the other direction.

What are your thoughts?

Is privacy in Caesar's world a "right"?

Is anonymity and the right to transact without state and/or bank supervision more important that monitoring possible fraud and money laundering?

Is all this too late anyway? Has the digital "open air prison" already closed its gates?

What do you value? Privacy? Anonymity? Efficiency? Safety? And how much are you willing to give up to get it?

Have you seen similar constitutional amendments to protect "old fashioned" rights and norms in your neighbourhoods?

Let us know.
