Yes privacy is a right as long as it is not an infringement on the rights of others. Also this whole cashless model assumes that everyone has access to this or should have access to it. It leaves behind vast numbers of people who are financially excluded and digitally excluded. This is a big issue I have with my bank currently. They want me to switch to less cash and more virtual banking when they haven’t done much about the rise in security risks with this type of banking and I often transact in areas of Johannesburg that only accept cash.
I value autonomy.
And they also want to get rid of the secret ballot via electronic voting. Pennsylvania is floating a constitutional referendum similar to Austria.
