Faith and the future

#DailySignals - Your 2 minute preview of the future

The Polak game asks us to consider 1) how optimistic we are and 2) how much agency we have to create the future.

Todays signal looks at how that maps on to religious affiliation.

Research shows that those who identify as religious have more extrinsic optimism (faith in odds outside their control) and less intrinsic optimism (belief in their own ability to influence the odds) than non believers.

Similarly, new reserach shows US Gen Z who identity as religious are generally more optimistic than Gen Z atheists about the general future.

Your thoughts?

What can policy makers and futurists learn from this?

What does faith have to do with the future?

Let us know.
